About Starry Domes Desert Camp in Oman

The Starry Domes Desert Camp has five beautiful domes (there will be 7 total in October of 2023), with a unique design that is equipped for stargazing. Starry Domes Camp is located in Oman's majestic Sharquiah Sands which is about a 3 hour drive from Muscat. The camp is a perfect fusion of luxury and adventure. As I walked into my dome for the first time, I was extreamly impressed with the amenities and design. There are privacy curtains that you can open up to bring the outside in. The stylish interiors feature plush beds, fine linens, and tasteful furnishings that provide a tranquil sanctuary. You'll also have access to a host of amenities, including 4g service (works with the use of an Oman sim card), air conditioning, a small kitchenette, porch, outdoor dining area and a private bathroom. At night, the display is nothing short of breathtaking. With thousands of stars illuminating the sky above, I lied in my luxurious, air-conditioned dome and slept the best I have had in a while. The beds are seriously SO comfy!

How to get to Starry Domes Desert Camp in Oman

I recommend renting a car and driving to the town of Bidiyah. You will be able to park your car for free at the designated parking area and then take a 4x4 vehicle with a driver to the camp.

Starry Domes Desert Camp offers many fun affordable opportunities for adventure through the desert. Some common activities include: camel riding, ATV and desert safaris. During my time here, I took a camel ride through the desert and it was one of the coolest experiences ever. Another highlight of staying at Starry Domes is the welcoming atmosphere of the staff and other travelers. During my time here I was invited to gather with other tourists and staff as we sat under the stars and shared our life stories and travel experiences while drinking hot homemade tea. This was such a great way to connect with people and truly live in the moment.

Dining at the Starry Domes Desert Camp is an experience in itself. The camp's talented chefs create a sumptuous selection of dishes that showcase the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Oman. I had the pleasure of enjoying some of the best curries, meats, and hors d'oeuvres made with the freshest local ingredients, that were served to me right in the dining area of my dome tent while I took in the panoramic views of the desert landscape that surround me.
