Calling all foodies~ Canggu, Bali is known for its aesthetically Instagrammable cafes/co-working spaces and delicious healthy meals, drinks, smoothie bowls you name it…Canggu probably has it! Canggu is a surf town just an hour north of the Denpasar airport in Bali, Indonesia. Canggu is a very popular up and coming tourist destination that draws people and especially digital nomads in because its located right on the beach, offers lots of healing and health wellness opportunities, is affordable to visit and is a central location to different parts of the Bali island.
Of course one of the most popular things to do in Canggu is to visit the many beautifully decorated cafes. Each cafe is different in its own way and you will not be let down with the great food that is offered. As a digital nomad, I enjoy changing up my work environment, so coming to the cafes is always a great option…plus the food is delicious and cheap.
Today, I will be talking about my favorite cafes in the Canggu area you must try during your trip to Bali
Crate Cafe
Crate cafe is a great hangout spot. They constantly have music playing and it's always busy. The rice terrace views, open concept, lots of space to relax, work or just hangout is the reason Crate Cafe is one of my favorites. Crate cafes menu has many healthy meals and all day breakfast. Their salad bowls have to be my favorite thing here. You can get a huge salad that is fully loaded with veggies, protein and more for 60k Rupiah (which is about $3.90 USD). Everything not he menu costs under $5. They have a large variety of smoothies/smoothie bowls and coffee options as well. Who wouldn’t want to eat a cheap, healthy meal right with great vibes across from a beautiful rice terrace?!
Things you should try here
- Avocado Toast
- Chick Chick Boom Salad
- Any of the pastries
Doppio Cafe
For anyone who loves a good smoothie bowl, Doppio Cafe has the best ones around. Doppio cafe is a great spot to work, relax and enjoy a smoothie bowl on a hot Bali day. The cafe is perfectly decorated as well, making for a great ambiance. Everything here is very affordable as well. Their breakfast is amazing as well. Smoothie bowls cost around 60k Rupiah (which is about $3.90 USD)
Things you should try here
- Any of the smoothie bowls, but my favorite was the cacao one!
The Avocado Factory
Calling all avocado lovers! This outdoor cafe is situated right on rice terraces with a great ambiance. Of course, if you aren’t a fan of avocados, they do have many options without! Enjoy a fresh smoothie bowl or many of the amazing salads and dishes that this place offers. Its very affordable here as well. If you’re a foodie, the Avocado Factory is a great place to visit.
Things you should try here
- Avocado protein smoothie
- Hummus toast
- Chicken & Avo Lassi salad
Note: Most of the cafes accept credit cards, but do charge a 3% fee. I recommend paying cash and using a Charles Schwab Debit Card to withdraw from ATMs to avoid paying the foreign ATM fees! If you decide to use a credit card, the Capital One venture card won’t charge you fees for using it abroad!
I hope you enjoyed this guide to my favorite cafes within the Canggu area! For any additional questions about visiting Indonesia, you can book a call with me here! Happy cafe hopping :)
