Using your cell phone abroad can get extremely pricy if you are planning on traveling for even a short duration. Most of the United States cell phone carriers will charge at a minimum of $10/day PER day just to use your phone abroad! That's literally crazy! Well, you’re in luck because I have discovered this new app which will save you tons of money during your travels.
The App that will save you lots of money using your phone abroad
Airalo is an app that allows you to have affordable cell data plans all over the world without needing a physical Sim Card which makes using your phone without wifi extremely convenient. Airalo offers many affordable data plans in over 190 countries.
The eSIM card is very easy to install and there are instructions on the App. I am NOT tech savvy whatsoever and I had zero problems figuring it out with the step-by-step instructions.
All you need is your cell phone to be unlocked. You can check this by going into your settings. If your phone is not unlocked, most carriers will unlock it for you for a small fee.
Many smartphones such as Apple iPhones and Androids are capable to use Airalo, but check out this list to make sure your phone is eligible for the eSIM.
Just remember that these are data-based plans which means you cannot use your phone to call, but it's very useful for maps, social media, iMessage, FaceTime, web browsing, WhatsApp and any other apps.
