Volcanos, Lake Views, Paddle boards: This Hotel Is INCREDIBLE

I decided to head off on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Guatemala during my backpacking adventure in Central America. After traveling for about a month, I wanted to have a couple of days to relax, swim, chill and work. I was looking around for accommodation on Lake Atiltin so I could go paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming. I always wanted to go to this place because I saw it all over the internet and it inspired me. I absolutely love being by the lake, so I knew that this would be the perfect time for me to go.

The hotel I ended up booking was called Sacred Tree and I couldn’t be happier with my stay here. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. Miguel, the owner arranged an effortless taxi from the airport and boat pick-up for me upon arrival at the accommodation (in order to get here, you take a boat taxi… it's fun!).

As a solo female, safety when traveling takes number one priority. There is security staffing there at all times and the area of lake Atilitlin itself is extremely low in crime and has a great reputation. With the combination of the hotel safety and the area, I could have a worry-free trip traveling here solo. Book a call with me to hear all about my experience of solo travel in Central America.

The hotel is gorgeous yet affordable. The rooms are bungalow style which means that you have even more privacy which makes this place feel like a little paradise. Each bungalow has one extremely comfortable California king bed, a full kitchen, and a bathroom. Some rooms even come with a private hot tub all for a very affordable price. The bungalow I stayed in was the Aries one. The bungalows can sleep up to four people between the couch and bed. The hotel is within walking distance of the boat taxi (which you can take in order to explore the surrounding villages) as well as the main village if you plan on buying groceries and cooking in your bungalow yourself. There are plenty of restaurant options, or if you don’t feel like leaving this little getaway paradise, you can order food for all three meals. They have an amazing menu!

Can we just take a second to TALK ABOUT THE VIEWS???? Seriously I was in awe every morning eating my avocado toast and fruit with views of the volcano and the lake. It looked like a painting.

Every day I went swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the lake and it was a great way for me to spend the days here. In addition to kayaks and paddleboards, the hotel has relaxation areas such as an infinity pool, swings, and two docks, so you’re bound to have a great day here. When you work remotely as I do, it's important to love where you are staying since that's where you spend the majority of your time. With that being said, the porch area was perfect for my own DIYI  “at home office” because it had plugs to keep my laptop charged and a roof in case it were to rain.

This stay, honestly felt like a dream. It was a great way to end my month of travels throughout Central America and I can’t wait to come back and bring some friends and family with me next time.
